The US Consumer Safety Commission officially banned the sale of loose cords on window coverings in 2018. Even prior to that, Hunter Douglas was prioritizing safety and now has several ways to make window treatments more safe.

As a child grows, the risks around the home change. Babies may be more interested in putting dog toys in their mouths or climbing the stairs all day, but toddlers and young children are more mobile so other dangers may arise as they grow.
What Are the Cordless Options Out There?
We offer two different cordless categories, motorized and manual. Both are full of child-safe features and have their own benefits.

Manual operation: Blinds AND Window shades that adjust up and down manually by hand.
Are There Any Safe Cord Options?
We understand that sometimes a corded option may be easier, due to the treatments being hard to reach or tucked behind something. There are a few corded options that have child-safe features:
- Control with a wand
- Continuous cord loops (securely fastened)
- Short, retractable cord
